Responsibilities and ethical standards

The Universal Journal of Advanced Research (UJAR) is committed to maintaining the highest ethical standards in all aspects of scholarly publishing. Our ethics policy is designed to ensure integrity, transparency, and accountability throughout the publication process.

This policy outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the journal itself. By adhering to these standards, we aim to protect the integrity of the scholarly record and maintain trust in the research we publish.

Author Ethical Responsibilities

Originality and Plagiarism

  • Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original.
  • All sources must be properly cited and acknowledged.
  • Plagiarism in any form is strictly prohibited.

Data Integrity

  • Research data must be accurate and authentic.
  • Data fabrication or falsification is a serious breach of ethics.
  • Authors must be prepared to provide raw data for verification if requested.

Multiple Submission

  • Manuscripts should not be submitted to multiple journals simultaneously.
  • Previously published work should not be resubmitted without disclosure.

Authorship

  • All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the research.
  • All contributors who meet authorship criteria should be listed.
  • All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript.
  • Gift authorship or ghost authorship is unethical.

Conflicts of Interest

  • Authors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence their work.
  • Funding sources must be acknowledged.

Errors in Published Work

  • Authors must promptly notify the editor of any significant errors discovered in their published work.
  • Authors should cooperate with editors to publish corrections or retractions.

Editor Ethical Responsibilities

Editorial Independence

  • Editors must make fair and unbiased decisions based solely on manuscript quality.
  • Editorial decisions should not be influenced by commercial interests or personal relationships.

Confidentiality

  • Editors must maintain strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts.
  • Manuscript content should not be disclosed to anyone except authors, reviewers, and editorial staff.

Conflicts of Interest

  • Editors must disclose any conflicts of interest.
  • Editors should recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where they have a conflict.

Handling Misconduct

  • Editors must investigate allegations of misconduct thoroughly and fairly.
  • Appropriate action must be taken when misconduct is confirmed.

Corrections and Retractions

  • Editors must be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, and retractions when necessary.
  • Retractions should be clearly labeled and linked to the original article.

Reviewer Ethical Responsibilities

Objectivity

  • Reviews must be objective, constructive, and based on the merit of the work.
  • Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate.

Confidentiality

  • Reviewers must maintain strict confidentiality of manuscripts under review.
  • Manuscript content should not be shared or discussed with others.

Conflicts of Interest

  • Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest.
  • Reviewers should decline to review manuscripts where they have a conflict.

Timeliness

  • Reviewers should complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.
  • If unable to complete a review, reviewers should notify the editor promptly.

Ethical Concerns

  • Reviewers should alert editors to any ethical concerns, including plagiarism or data manipulation.
  • Reviewers must not use information from reviewed manuscripts for personal advantage.
